Retail Assistant – Out & About Clothing (Maternity Cover)

Fixed Term Contract – Maternity Cover
3 days per week plus every other Saturday
9am – 5pm (Monday – Wednesday) with 30 minute unpaid break and 8am – 12pm (Saturdays)
There may be a requirement to work additional hours on Saturdays during our busy time in December
Expected Start Date : October 2024
Expected Length of Fixed Term Contract : 11 months
We are looking for a self-motivated, friendly and hardworking retail assistant to join our team in our clothing section at Ardleigh. The successful candidate must have a passion for customer service and fantastic people skills, preferably with retail experience. Visual merchandising skills would be beneficial, and social media experience in a business. Computer skills are essential. A love for the outdoor, country lifestyle and an understanding for our brands would be an advantage.
Out & About sells premium country clothing, stocking brands such as Barbour, Schoffel and Fairfax & Favor. The shop is part of the P Tuckwell Ltd group and located within the lawn and garden showroom. We have one other store located in Framlingham, Suffolk where you may need to travel to occasionally. We will require you to work closely with this store and develop strong relationships with the existing team. We exhibit at country shows throughout the Spring / Summer period, where you will be heavily involved. This includes using our company van for these events, so a clean driving license is essential.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering exceptional customer service, going over and above for our customers.
- Delivery of store targets and stock inventory management through clear goals and standards as agreed with your manager.
- Maintaining and regularly changing visual displays, as well as keeping the shop well stocked and clean.
- Staying well informed on industry trends.
- Taking responsibility to remain up to date with knowledge of new products and brands to enable you to advise our customers in the best way.
- Being responsible for resolving any customer problems, with assistance from your manager where needed.
- Seeking new opportunities to promote the store locally. Ensuring the shop is well marketed and promoted on social media, maintaining a consistent and professional brand image.
- Managing your levels of inventory and ensuring the stock is regularly replenished.
- Processing online orders quickly and efficiently.
- Assisting with events we hold in the shop and externally.
Specifics:
- Computer skills are essential due to our stock management and invoicing system that we use. The role will involve receiving all deliveries in, setting up new items on our system and stock checking.
- Creating new visual displays, ensuring the stock is always rotated and mannequins are changed weekly for outfit inspiration.
- Working at country shows where we exhibit. This includes planning, setting up and breaking down, and may include some Sundays.
- Maintaining a fantastic level of cleanliness in the shop.
